DSM5 is a unique collective who create an intriguing set of dreamy folk, jazz-infused angular rock, psychedelic blues, and moody, melodic pop. Opening the CD with a kick, the bouncy ‘Finally Gone’ is propelled by strong guitar and a winning melody. The muscular arrangement on ‘Shock Value’ is accentuated by the band’s tight musicianship. ‘Someone To Save Me’ showcases tongue-in-cheek melodrama. The soaring ‘Somewhere/Nowhere’ suggests Superman’s turbulent romantic entanglements. The CD’s highlight is the haunting ballad ‘Shining Down On Me’. ‘D.W.B.’ tackles racial politics with vigor and humor. ‘Christmas In Creedmoor’ conjures the lunatics taking over the asylum, twisting the night away. ‘I’m A Living Museum’ is a loving pastiche of 60s pop. ‘Been So Long’ carefully walks the tightrope of lust, longing, and insecurity. DSM5's Insanity Never Sounded So Good! was recorded in Creedmoor in summer 2011 by engineer Ben Harson with additional production by Oliver Hoffmann from original recordings by Issa Ibrahim. The CD was released in spring of 2012.
